Encinitas park party rules
Parties of 25 or more need a City permit, only 8 sites qualify, and you apply by email at least 25 days ahead. Here is everything the City requires, checked against its own documents in September 2026.

- Paul Ecke Sports Park (Old Encinitas)
City sources disagree on Cottonwood Creek and Glen Park: the March 2026 permit guide lists both, while the parks page marks them "not reservable." Confirm with Parks & Rec before you apply. Three overlooks take permits for ceremonies only: Encinitas Viewpoint Park, Moonlight Beach Overlook, J Street Viewpoint.

Fees are per use. Add a $3 processing fee. Groups of 51+ pay at least a $200 refundable deposit, and groups of 100+ also pay cost-recovery fees for restrooms, trash and lifeguards (amounts not published). The non-resident rate applies when fewer than half the group lives in Encinitas.
How to apply
- Pick one of the 8 sites and download the City's outdoor permit application.
- Email it to PRCA@encinitasca.gov at least 25 days before the party. The fee is due when you apply. There's no online booking.
- Send proof of $1M liability insurance, with the City named as additional insured, at least 10 days before. The City sells event insurance but doesn't publish the price.

What's not allowed
- Bounce houses and other inflatables
- Amplified sound and generators
- Portable grills, tiki torches, candles and open flames
- Glass and polystyrene
Chairs, tables, arches, canopies and water activities may be allowed after extra review; list them on your application.
Alcohol
Only beer and wine, and only in parks that allow it. It's banned on all City beaches and overlooks, on athletic fields, and at Cardiff Sports Park, Ecke Sports Park, Glen Park, Encinitas Viewpoint Park and Leucadia Roadside Park (municipal code 9.28).
Indoor option: City rooms
The Community & Senior Center rents meeting rooms and a banquet hall by the hour. Residents (ZIP 92024 or 92007) pay about $70–$76 an hour for activity and meeting rooms. Book 14 days ahead for meeting rooms and 40 days for the banquet hall. Refundable deposits run $100 without food, $200 with food and $300 with alcohol.
State beaches are different
San Elijo and Cardiff State Beaches are run by California State Parks. Groups of more than 25 need a State Parks special event permit, booked 45–90 days ahead, with at least $500,000 in insurance. The permit fee isn't published.
